An NRI family has installed an 18-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty at their home in Langiana Nawan village, Moga district, Punjab, as a tribute to the United States. Crafted by sculptor Manjit Singh Gill from Ghal Kalan village, the statue is made from fiberglass and stands proudly atop their house, Indian Express reported.

Gurmeet Singh Brar, also known as Babbu, a 46-year-old transport business owner settled in Indiana, USA, shared with The Indian Express that the statue symbolizes gratitude for the opportunities and prosperity they have found in America.

Brar moved to the US in 2006, continuing his family’s transport business, which was initially established in India by his late father.

“My grandfather is still remembered in Moga, and our family has deep roots here. Our country gave us a lot before we moved to the US, and I make it a point to visit Punjab at least once a year.”

— Brar

Indian Express quoted Brar expressing his dual connection to both his homeland and his adopted country. “This statue is our tribute to America, which has given us a lot since we moved here.

Not only did our business thrive, but we are also leading a good life. The Statue of Liberty was the first thing that came to mind when we thought of representing the US at our Punjab home. It’s globally recognized and signifies our family’s connection to the US,” Brar explained.
