In honor of India Day, Milaap, India’s premier crowdfunding platform, has launched a groundbreaking feature that integrates Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) into its payment system. This innovative addition significantly streamlines the donation process for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the United States and other global supporters, enabling them to contribute effortlessly to vital causes such as medical emergencies, disaster relief, and micro-finance initiatives.

DAFs have long been valued for their flexibility and tax efficiency, offering donors a convenient way to support causes close to their hearts. However, the traditional method of making donations through DAFs has often been bogged down by tedious paperwork and lengthy communication processes. Milaap’s new integration, powered by DAFPay, revolutionizes this experience. With just three clicks, donors can now access their DAF accounts, choose a cause, and finalize their donations in as little as 15 seconds.

Milaap’s influence in facilitating fundraisers for medical, memorial, social, and microfinance causes is evident, with more than 320,000 donors from the US contributing over $64 million to support over 50,000 fundraisers on the platform

In addition to simplifying the donation process, the DAF feature also enables matching grants for individual fundraisers, further amplifying the impact by encouraging more contributions from other donors.

“Milaap is committed to making online fundraising as accessible, swift, and secure as possible,” said Mayukh Choudhury, Co-Founder of Milaap. “With the introduction of DAFPay, we’re excited to offer a seamless donation experience, akin to the ease of Apple Pay or Google Pay. This feature allows global supporters to make a significant impact on critical causes in India, regardless of where they are.”

India continues to face substantial challenges in healthcare, education, and social welfare. The Indian diaspora in the United States has played a pivotal role in addressing these needs. Over the past 14 years, contributions from the Indian diaspora have accounted for nearly a third of Milaap’s total donations, providing essential aid to individuals and communities across India.
