As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) approaches, Indian Americans are expected to play a significant role in the event, which is set to take place in Chicago from August 19 to 22. The convention is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for US Vice President Kamala Harris, whose presidential campaign is gaining momentum.

Ajay Bhutoria, an Indian American community leader and member of the DNC’s standing rules committee, emphasized the importance of the convention in uniting Democrats nationwide.

“The support from the Indian American community is both impactful and deeply meaningful, especially given Vice President Harris’s Indian heritage.”

“The Democratic National Convention will be a defining moment for Vice President Kamala Harris, bringing together Democrats from all 50 states and US territories to rally behind our nominee,” Bhutoria stated. He highlighted that the convention’s programming will showcase Harris’s accomplishments and outline the party’s vision for the future.

Bhutoria also noted the deep connection Vice President Harris shares with the South Asian community, which will be reflected in the significant presence of Indian American Democrats at the convention. “The support from the Indian American community is both impactful and deeply meaningful, especially given Vice President Harris’s Indian heritage,” he added.
