Ministry of External Affairs drives for cleanliness, reducing pendency in government offices

Through Special Campaign 4.0, the Ministry of External Affairs remains committed to fostering a cleaner environment and enhancing governance efficiency in its operations

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is actively advancing its efforts under Special Campaign 4.0, aimed at institutionalizing cleanliness (Swachhata) and reducing pendency in government offices. The campaign, running from October 2 to 31, 2024, focuses on improving workplace hygiene, promoting sustainability, and streamlining the disposal of pending matters.

By October 14, 2024, the Ministry had already made significant progress, conducting 426 cleanliness campaigns and clearing over 334,000 files, thereby freeing 18,426 square feet of space. The MEA has also resolved 14 PMO references, 53 state government references, and 70 MP references. Additionally, 450 public grievances and 89 appeals have been successfully addressed.

Indian Missions and Posts abroad, MEA headquarters, as well as its attached and subordinate offices, are diligently addressing various pending references, including those from Members of Parliament (MPs), the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), state governments, public grievances, appeals, parliamentary assurances, and inter-ministerial references. In addition, they are conducting cleanliness drives, disposing of scrap, and implementing plans for better space and records management.
