The visit underscored the shared historical and cultural ties between India and Guyana, rooted in a legacy of shared values and mutual respect
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on November 21, 2024, at the iconic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana.
Standing before the statue of the Father of the Nation, the Prime Minister reflected on Gandhi’s timeless principles of peace and non-violence, which remain a guiding light for humanity.
The statue, erected in 1969 to mark Gandhi’s 100th birth anniversary, serves as a symbol of his enduring global influence
In addition to honoring Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi offered floral tributes at the Arya Samaj monument situated nearby.
This structure, inaugurated in 2011, commemorates a century of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana, a movement instrumental in preserving and promoting Indian cultural and spiritual values in the diaspora.
