No immediate execution for UP woman in UAE, confirms Indian Embassy

Indian authorities assure that Shahzadi’s review petition is under consideration

The UAE authorities have informed the Indian embassy that there is no immediate execution scheduled for Shehzadi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was sentenced to death following the tragic death of an infant under her care in Abu Dhabi, reported newindianexpress.com.

Shahzadi’s case remains under review, and reports of an imminent execution are incorrect

Sources confirmed that her review petition is currently being considered and that reports of her execution within 24 hours were inaccurate. The Indian embassy has verified this information with UAE authorities and assured that the matter is still under investigation.

A tragic journey from Banda to Abu Dhabi, marked by hardship and legal battles

Shahzadi’s story began in Goyra Mugli village in Banda, where she was promised a better life by Uzair, a man from Agra. In 2021, she traveled to Abu Dhabi, allegedly trafficked by Uzair and a couple from Agra, Faiz and Nadia, who later blamed her for the sudden death of their four-month-old child. She was subsequently arrested and sentenced to death by an Abu Dhabi court.

Following the verdict, her father, Shabbir Khan, appealed to the Indian authorities for intervention. A human trafficking case has been filed against Uzair and the Agra-based couple based on a court order from the Banda Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.

Shahzadi’s life has been fraught with adversity, including childhood burn injuries and false promises of medical treatment and a better future. Her case has drawn widespread attention, with legal and diplomatic efforts underway to seek justice.
