Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the government was committed to make Arunachal Pradesh the gateway to East Asia and popularise its tourism potential. Speaking at the 36th Statehood Day of Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister spoke about the unprecedented infrastructure development that Arunachal had seen over the last seven years, and said that there has been extensive work in the fields of power and connectivity during the period. All this was intended at making the North East the next growth centre of India.
Connecting all the capital cities of the Northeast including Itanagar with rail connectivity was the government’s priority, the PM said. He said that the efforts were on to turn Arunachal into a major gateway to East Asia.
