Flights from India were suspended by Canada until July 21. A pre-departure negative Covid-19 molecular test result from a third country will be required for passengers travelling to Canada from India via an indirect route, according to a government advisory.

Those who are intending to travel from India to Canada and earlier tested positive for Covid-19, now must provide proof of a coronavirus positive test conducted between 14 to 90 days prior to departure, the advisory read. “This proof must be obtained in a third country. You might need to seek entry and stay in a third country for at least 14 days.”

Something more that Canada has citizens is to “avoid non-essential travel” to the northeastern part of India, specifically in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland, besides areas in these states sharing a border with Bangladesh and Afghanistan. This is  “due to significant conflict”.

Covid-19 testing not readily available at several international airports at the ‘third countries’, so the testing facilities have to be looked for elsewhere once one reaches there

There has been a ban on direct flights from New Delhi, a  prohibition that has been in place since April 22 and was extended twice. India has officially asked the Canadian government to lift it.

These regulations are added problems as these countries are not the destination for these travellers. Furthermore their  timeframe too is largely hampered.
