Enaam’s horses a symbol of modern Omani Women’s empowerment

The exhibition is a tribute to the memory of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said who gave utmost priority to ensure Omani women are given equal status in Omani society and every opportunity to reach their full potential in every facet of social and public life.

Artist Enaam Ahmed is exhibiting a set of 59 solo artworks in mixed media, themed ‘Riding Glory’ from Sept 28 to Oct 21, in the Bait Al Oud Hall of the Bait Al Zubair Museum, Muscat.

The exhibition is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Kamil Bin Fahad Bin Mahmoud Al Said, Assistant Secretary-General of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Sultanate of Oman

The artist has chosen a unique and befitting theme, to portray the empowerment of Omani women through their participation in and contribution to Equestrian sports in full measure.

She explains that “The exhibition is a tribute to the memory of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, – may God rest his soul in peace – who gave utmost priority to ensure Omani women were given equal status in Omani society and every opportunity to reach their full potential in every facet of social and public life”.

Elaborating further, Enaam asserts that the Arabian people’s pride and love for horses is legendary; that’s the reason why they excel in horsemanship and equestrian events”.

“The Arabian thoroughbred horse is the perfect symbol of grace, beauty, power and strength. And women too are no less, once they are given equal opportunities”, she adds

She explains that “The exhibition is a tribute to the memory of the late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, – may God rest his soul in peace – who gave utmost priority to ensure Omani women are given equal status in Omani society and every opportunity to reach their full potential in every facet of social and public life”.

The exhibition contains 59 artworks from various genres, from expressive to abstract realism, brilliantly executed in different styles   and techniques from watercolours to collage.

In every canvas, Enaam’s inimitable style makes its presence felt with every stroke – soft, warm colours, caught in fluid swirls of motion. Once again it is a delightful reminder of Enaam’s experience together with her finesse, gained in an evolutionary process across 26 years.

She is regarded as one of the most prominent Omani artists and has to her credit participation in many national and international exhibitions, including in Gulf countries, Europe, America and Australia. She is also the recipients of several, prestigious awards and accolades.

As a token of her concern and sympathy for those affected by the tragic events brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, Enaam has decided to donate 30 per cent of the sales proceeds from the exhibition to Dar Al Atta’a, a prominent social welfare and charitable organisation.
