Former Indian Navy officers arrested in Doha

According to an Indian Express report, the information about the arrest of these officers in Doha came to light from the post of a woman, Dr. Meetu Bhargava. In her message, Dr. Bhargava, who describes herself as an educator and spiritual person, posted on October 25, said that 8 veteran Navy officers who have served the motherland were in illegal custody in Doha for 57 days

At least eight retired officers of the Indian Navy have been arrested in Qatar, including former Navy commander Purnendu Tiwari, who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman. All these officers were working in a private company in Qatar. According to sources, the Indian Embassy in Qatar is also aware of the arrest of these former officers.

It is not yet clear why all these officers have been detained and what the charges against them are. However, earlier this month, officials of the Indian Embassy in Doha were given a consular visit to meet all of them

The post addressed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Indian Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri and many others urged them to bring the former officials of the country back to India.

According to the report, it is not yet clear why all these officers have been detained and what the charges against them are. However, earlier this month, officials of the Indian Embassy in Doha were given a consular visit to meet all of them.
