Hindu American Community Gears Up for a Month of Festivities Leading to the Momentous Unveiling of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya”
In anticipation of the momentous inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, the Hindu American community has launched a vibrant month-long celebration, commencing with a spectacular car rally in a Washington DC suburb. Organized by dedicated community members at the Shri Bhakta Anjaneya Temple on Ayodhya Way, near Frederick City, Maryland, the rally marks the beginning of a joyous countdown to the historic event.
Mahendra Sapa, President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America DC chapter, expressed the significance of the celebration: “After 500 years of struggle by Hindus, Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir is being inaugurated, and so we are organizing a historic celebration of the same in the Washington, DC area on January 20 next year with about 1,000 American Hindu families.”
The upcoming festivities promise a rich tapestry of cultural expressions, featuring Ram Leela, stories of Shri Ram, Hindu prayers, devotional songs, and bhajans dedicated to Bhagawan Shri Ram and his family. Sapa emphasized that the celebration would include a special enactment of the life of God Shri Ram by children of various ages, tailored for understanding by those born in America.

Premkumar Swaminathan, a local Tamil Hindu leader and co-organizer, added a musical touch to the event by singing a Tamil song praising Lord Shri Rama. He extended invitations to families for the January 20 celebration in the USA and the actual inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22.
Addressing the gathering in Kannada, Telugu, and other languages, organizers highlighted the global significance of Bhagawan Shri Ram, serving as an exemplary figure for Hindus worldwide. Rally organizer Krishna Gudipati invited all devotees to join a larger car and motorbike rally, symbolizing unity and devotion.
