Hindi is fifth largest language among Asian descent people in America

Fifty-two per cent of immigrants have a limited understanding of English. This is called Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Among Chinese immigrants, LEP is 66 per cent, Philippine 35 per cent, Vietnam 72 per cent Korean 64 per cent and Indians 29 per cent, which is the lowest LEP.

Hindi is the fifth largest language among citizens of Asian descent living in America.

The Asian American Advancing Justice (AAJC) came out with a statement which states that two-thirds of Americans are Asian American immigrants. Chinese, Tagalog (Philippine language), Vietnamese, Korean and Hindi are the most spoken languages.

By LEP rating, Indians are better than other Asian nationalities and have a better understanding of English than others

Informing the Senate members, the Department of Home Defense and the Government Affairs Committee, John Yang, Executive Director of AAJC, said 52 per cent of immigrants have a limited understanding of English.

This is called Limited English Proficiency (LEP). Among Chinese immigrants, LEP is 66 per cent, Philippine 35 per cent, Vietnam 72 per cent Korean 64 per cent and Indians 29 per cent, which is the lowest LEP.

So by LEP rating, Indians are better than other Asian nationalities and have better understanding for English than others.

People from Myanmar have LEP at 79 per cent.
