The Barmer and Jaisalmer district administrations have started vaccinating the Pakistani Hindu migrants in Rajasthan. The Jodhpur administration, however, is awaiting the state’s decision for it.
Jaisalmer District Magistrate Ashish Modi said he surveyed migrants who do not have any Indian documents but have Pakistani passports.
“We have identified 2,281 such migrants in Jaisalmer and started vaccinating them based on their passports. Till now, 17 of them have been vaccinated and this campaign will start in full swing from Friday,” he said.
Barmer District Magistrate Lok Bandhu also gave a green signal and said, “The vaccination of migrants without local identity cards has started. A total of 21 of them were vaccinated on Tuesday, the first day of the campaign.”
Jodhpur’s Chief Medical and Health Officer Balwant Manda denied to have any instruction from the state government on vaccination of Pakistani Hindu migrants. He said no decision had been taken on the issue yet.
Among the migrants from Pakistan, Jodhpur has the largest number. They are awaiting citizenship, but the state government’s stand on vaccination has compounded insecurity among them.
