The campaign, held at three different locations in Lagos, witnessed approximately 100 NRIs coming together to encourage their fellow Indians to engage in ground campaigning in India
In a show of solidarity and support, Indian businessmen, professionals, and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) residing in Nigeria recently convened in Lagos to campaign for the re-election of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third term, vanguardngr.com reported.
Organized by Sanjay Srivastava, the Convener of Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) Nigeria, the campaign aimed to mobilize Indians living in Nigeria to actively participate in the upcoming Indian general elections and to extend unwavering support for Modi’s candidacy.
The campaign, held at three different locations in Lagos, witnessed approximately 100 NRIs coming together to encourage their fellow Indians to engage in ground campaigning in India. Their efforts were directed towards motivating friends and family members to exercise their voting rights in support of Prime Minister Modi.
Sanjay Srivastava highlighted the primary objective of the campaign, emphasizing the need to mobilize the Indian community in Nigeria to actively participate in the electoral process in India. This engagement, he stressed, is crucial for shaping the future trajectory of India.
As the Indian general elections draw near, the support and enthusiasm of Indians both within the country and abroad stand as a testament to the vibrancy of Indian democracy and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Echoing Srivastava’s sentiments, Pravin Kumar, General Secretary of OFBJP, underscored the significance of their involvement in influencing the course of Indian politics. Kumar outlined plans for similar awareness campaigns and programs scheduled for weekends leading up to the election, demonstrating a sustained effort to garner support for Prime Minister Modi and his government.
Central to the campaign’s message is the importance of personal engagement, urging Indians to visit India for ground campaigning. Kumar reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing the Indian diaspora in Nigeria and ensuring their active participation in the electoral process back in India.
The campaign in Nigeria signifies the global reach and impact of Indian politics, with the diaspora playing an increasingly influential role in shaping the country’s future. As the Indian general elections draw near, the support and enthusiasm of Indians both within the country and abroad stand as a testament to the vibrancy of Indian democracy and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
