The Indian Toy Industry is making significant inroads into the UAE market, spearheaded by a delegation organized by the Toy Association of India (TAI). This diverse group, comprising manufacturers, importers, exporters, retailers, and toy testing lab designers from across India, aims to elevate the industry both in manufacturing and exports.

Since 2020, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to boost local manufacturing, the Indian toy industry has seen a remarkable transformation. This initiative has reduced imports by over 50% and increased exports by 240% in the past three years. The local manufacturers now produce toys that meet international standards, opening substantial opportunities in the global market.

  • A delegation from India visited Dubai. The delegation explored opportunities at Bharat Mart in Dubai and assessed prospects in Abu Dhabi

  • TAI, as the leading voice of India’s toy industry, continues to showcase the quality and variety of Indian-made toys on the global stage

  • Their annual exhibitions have connected over 7,000 buyers and sellers, generating significant business and highlighting the excellence of Indian toys

Ajay Aggarwal, President of TAI, highlighted the industry’s advancements, stating, “Indian manufacturers now offer quality products, packaging, and testing as per destination country requirements. Many are already exporting to the USA, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East, including Dubai and Saudi Arabia.” He emphasized the advantages of shorter shipping times from India, which take just 4-5 days, minimal ocean freight costs compared to imports from China, and the convenience for buyers to visit factories within a day’s travel.

The India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has further boosted the competitiveness of Indian toys by providing zero-duty access to the UAE market. Additionally, many Indian toy manufacturers meet Gulf Standards Organization (GSO) requirements, ensuring their products adhere to stringent safety and quality standards. This compliance facilitates a smooth export process and enhances the appeal of Indian toys in the Gulf region.
