Indians living abroad must be careful to keep their OCI card intact

To keep their OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card intact, the Indians living abroad must be careful in their behaviour. The lapse in terms of taking part in anti-India activities on a foreign land may cause revocation of their OCI card.

A recent news report said at least a dozen Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards holders in Canada have had their cards and long-term visas revoked for backing “anti-India’’ activities, including extending support to protests by farmers against the three farm laws, the Week reported.

The OCI status also grants residency, with certain conditions, to people who accept citizenship elsewhere

OCI card is a facility the government of India provides to those who have opted nationality of other countries. India apparently doesn’t give dual nationality, but the facility of OCI card enables the holders to live and work in India indefinitely.
