India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the resumption of international flights in the country, after more than 20 long months, from December 15, 2021. The move follows demand from industry stakeholders including airlines, embassies, travel agents and tour operators.
However, with the rising Covid-19 cases in a few countries, the government has barred flights to/from 14 countries, which are at risk of spreading the virus or where the pandemic situation is not under control.
The exclusions from the list is UK. Other countries on the exclusion list: France, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, South Africa, Brazil, China, Mauritius, New Zealand and Singapore (the government announced resumption of flights to Singapore under the Vaccinated Travel Lane)
The existing air bubble transport agreements, however, will continue with these nations. The exclusions from the list is UK. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said that the decision to resume flight operations had been taken in consultation with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and was expected to benefit the aviation and industry which had been badly hit because of the Covid pandemic.
