In a recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu expressed optimism about welcoming more Indian tourists to the Maldives, thehindu.com reported.

Speaking at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on October 7, 2024, Muizzu emphasized that India is one of the Maldives’ largest tourism markets, contributing significantly to the country’s economy.

The longstanding ties, Muizzu said, are reflected throughout their shared history, and tourism has become a vital link in strengthening this bond further

Highlighting the deep historical ties between the two nations, Muizzu noted that the people-to-people connections have been the cornerstone of the Maldives-India relationship.
