Adhering to the latest directive issued by the Maharashtra Government, the Mumbai International Airport is prepared for Omicron. It has issued a note saying that arriving passengers from high-risk countries, will be segregated from passengers arriving from low-risk countries.
It has set up adequate RT-PCR testing facility in international arrivals in the form of 48 registration counters & 40 sampling booths. There are three laboratories for RT-PCR testing in international arrivals: Lifenity, Suburban Diagnostics and Acu-MDx (Mylabs).
The airport has also sensitised relevant stakeholders on the new guidelines and the added facilities for passengers’ convenience
In addition to normal RT-PCR, 30 Rapid PCR machines, are available for the passengers who have connecting onward flights with short connecting time. This facility will be upscaled further if required.
Passengers who have not done their pre booking of RT-PCR test online, QR codes have been displayed at various locations in the arrival corridor. Physical forms for RT-PCR registration are also made available to passengers on board with help of airlines which they can fill before disembarking from their flight and thus avoid queuing for the registration on arrival.
A large sitting area for the passengers awaiting their RT-PCR results has been activated with amenities like washrooms, food and beverages, etc.
The airport has also sensitised relevant stakeholders on the new guidelines and the added facilities for passengers’ convenience. It has undertaken all necessary precautions to mitigate the spread of the new covid variant. For Mumbai Airport, passengers’ safety, well-being, and security is of utmost importance.
