At least 65 people, including seven Indian nationals, are missing after two buses were swept away by a landslide in Nepal’s Chitwan area.
The incident occurred around 3:30 am on Friday, when the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus and Ganpati Deluxe, en route to Gaur, were pushed into the Trishuli river by a landslide along the Narayanghat-Mugling road.
Three passengers managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicles.
Rescue operations are underway, with efforts from the police and Armed Forces to clear the debris and search for the missing.
Nepal’s Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has directed all government agencies to prioritise the rescue operations and has expressed grief over the loss of life and property due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country.
