Oman Air hopes Qatar Airways’ support to get the membership. Incidentally, Qatar Airways is not just another member airline of the alliance from the region but its CEO is the current chairman of oneworld
This should be music to the Indian Diaspora in Oman as well as other countries. Reuters reported recently that Oman Air wanted to join the oneworld global alliance. One of the three major alliances in the world, oneworld alliance requires an established member to handhold the incoming member to prepare its entry. Oman Air hopes Qatar Airways’ support to get the membership. Incidentally, Qatar Airways is not just another member airline of the alliance from the region but its CEO is the current chairman of oneworld.
Oman Air said in a statement reported by Reuters: “As the industry recovers from Covid, airline alliances are going to be more important than ever. This will provide us with excellent global connectivity, a seamless travel experience and more valuable loyalty offerings for our guests.”
Oneworld alliance said in a statement: “As airlines recover from COVID-19, alliances will become more important by providing global connectivity, as airlines reshape their networks, many with reduced fleets when compared to their pre-Covid size.”
Reports indicate that oneworld has the strongest elite recognition of any major alliance. While the alliance has Qatar Airways, one of the biggest Gulf airlines that is a competitor of Oman Air for connecting traffic
The oneworld alliance include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and more. The airline has recently added two new members (Alaska and Royal Air Maroc), but the airline also lost one member (LATAM).
Reports indicate that oneworld has the strongest elite recognition of any major alliance. While the alliance has Qatar Airways, one of the biggest Gulf airlines that is a competitor of Oman Air for connecting traffic, what is it then that Oman Air is looking for after it joins oneworld ?
