The two were bound for USA, Italy through agents
The Kurukshetra police have booked two men under the Immigration Act and under charges of abetment to suicide after a youth, who had left for the USA, died under mysterious circumstances in Tanzania on April 12.
The deceased, Sanjot Singh (18), belonged to Pehowa of Kurukshetra.
A case has been registered and the process to bring the body has begun.
A case has been registered against Rajpal Kashyap and Sanjay Saini under Sections 306 and 370 of IPC and 10 and 24 of the Immigration Act at the City Pehowa police station. Sources said the youth was being sent to the USA through an illegal route and the deal was fixed at Rs 26 lakh.
Sharandeep Kaur, mother of the youth, in her complaint to the police, alleged that six months ago, agent Rajpal Kashyap had sent Sanjot to Kenya, but around three months ago, he refused to send him further to the USA.
Meanwhile, the family came in contact with Sanjay Saini, a Barnala agent, who said he would send Sanjot to the USA from Kenya. On March 30, he sent him to Tanzania and on April 11, he also said that he was not able to send him to the USA. On April 12, the family got a call from Tanzania that Sanjot had died by suicide in a hotel.
In the second case, Paramjit Kaur, alleged that her son Parminder wanted to go abroad. “Gorav, a Pehowa resident, had sought Rs 16.2 lakh to send my son to Italy. On January 14, he took my son to Delhi and we gave them euros worth Rs 2 lakh. On January 25, we got a call from Gorav that my son had reached Serbia. On February 14, we got a message from my son that he was being sent through an illegal route and his phone had been taken away. There has been no contact since then.”
