Provide full support to NRIs: Minister to govt officials

Dhaliwal regretted that NRIs funding lakhs and crores of rupees for development of their respective areas have to shuttle between various offices to get necessary approvals from government departments.

Aam Aadmi Party MLA and Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal called upon senior functionaries in various government departments to accord full respect to NRIs and extend administrative support to them in implementation of ventures they (NRIs) intend to carry out in their respective native regions.

Addressing a gathering of office-bearers and activists of the Aam Aadmi Party at Gujjarwal village, he regretted that NRIs funding lakhs and crores of rupees for development of their respective areas have to shuttle between various offices to get necessary approvals from government departments.

“I have observed that a section of government officials, instead of welcoming and appreciating their gesture, is bent upon harassing them on fake pretexts of licences and approvals,” said Dhaliwal, cautioning that uncooperative officials would not be spared.

Dhaliwal visited the village after learning that an NRI, Kuldeep Singh Grewal, had announced a contribution of Rs 10 lakh for the renovation of Civil Dispensary, presently in a shambles.

Announcing a grant of Rs 5 lakh, Dhaliwal assured to take up the issue of upgradation of the dispensary with the minister concerned and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

“I have observed that a section of government officials, instead of welcoming and appreciating their gesture, is bent upon harassing them on fake pretexts of licences and approvals,” said Dhaliwal, cautioning that uncooperative officials would not be spared.

Dhaliwal advised BDPO Rupinderjit Kaur to forwards documents related to demands put forth by residents of the village, so that necessary action is taken as soon as possible.

Hakam Singh Thekedar, Manvinder Singh Giaspura and Labh Singh Upoke (all MLAs) were present on the occasion.
