Rajinikanth has now announced that his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) will be revamped as a fans’ welfare association and that it has been dissolved
While during the last week of December last year, Rajinikanth announced that he would not join politics, earlier on 3 December 2020, he had said he would launch his party in January 2021 ahead of the Assembly election in Tamil Nadu.
Rajinikanth has now announced that his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) will be revamped as a fans’ welfare association and that it has been dissolved.
“What we expected didn’t happen due to the prevailing situation. I don’t have any plans to enter politics in the future,” Rajinikanth said.
The statement reads: “Without entering electoral politics, I will serve the people. This decision of mine will disappoint my fans and people but please forgive me.”
Rajinikanth had been admitted to a Hyderabad hospital last week following fluctuations in blood pressure. This was announced just two days after he was discharged.
RMM had a logo that changed — lotus, also the BJP’s election symbol, and cobra snake. In his ideological leaning he has been close to the BJP-RSS.

In March this year he said he would be a “lunatic to have a thirst for power” at 70 in 2021 Tamil Nadu election if he did not go for it when he was 45 in 1996.
He said, “Everything is fate.”
But as his supporters say nothing is predictable with Rajinikanth. The Thalaivar announced that there would be no Rajini contest in Tamil Nadu election next year.
