Indian American communities are witnessing growing religious divisions, highlighted by a recent controversy involving an Ayodhya Temple float during India Day celebrations in the US.
The float, which was crafted entirely from wood and flown in from India, sparked criticism from various groups who deemed it anti-Muslim. Despite this, a significant portion of the Indian diaspora, particularly the Hindu community, participated enthusiastically in the parade.
The Federation of Indian Associations, which organized the event, addressed the controversy through its Chairman, Ankur Vaidya.
Earlier this year, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom expressed concern over the inauguration of the Ayodhya Temple, which stands on the site of the demolished Babri Mosque
He emphasized that the event had received full support and clearance from both the New York Police Department and the Mayor’s office before proceeding.
This incident appears to mirror the growing communal tensions in India, where religious rifts have been intensifying.
