The Indian-American lawmakers and members of the Indian community across the United States celebrated ‘Diwali’, the Indian festival lights. Most of the top members of President Joe Biden’s administration took part in the celebration and praised the contributions of Indian-Americans to America’s development and highlighted the importance of Diwali in the post-Covid-19 world, TV9 reported.
“We are facing a global pandemic for the last almost two years, which has completely changed our lives. I and many of us have lost family members and friends. I know that many of you have also suffered the same pain, whether it is related to the family living here, your family settled in India, or migrant or loved ones living anywhere in the world… We have endured a lot,” TV9 quoted US Surgeon General Dr Vivek Murthy as saying.

“But what has worried me the most in the last few years is the invisible epidemic that we are living in, is an epidemic of polarization, where it is felt that people are turned against each other, where they see each other as enemies, call each other bad and treat each other in a similar manner. This is a different kind of darkness,” said Murthy.
