Tulsi Gabbard urges Indian-Americans to back Trump, criticizes Kamala Harris on immigration issues

Gabbard expressed frustration at the Biden-Harris administration’s focus on creating pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while legal immigrants remain stuck in bureaucratic limbo

In a recent interview, former Congresswoman and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard called on Indian-American voters to support Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, indiatoday.in reported.

Gabbard, an outspoken advocate for Trump, criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden for their lack of action on immigration issues that disproportionately affect Indian immigrants, such as the green card backlog and the “aging out” problem.

Gabbard urged Indian-Americans to avoid voting based on ethnic identity, despite Harris’s Indian heritage. She argued that Harris has done little to address the needs of the Indian-American community, particularly in resolving immigration challenges. “Kamala Harris’s mother immigrated from India, but what has she done for Indian immigrants today? The short answer is nothing,” Gabbard stated.

With immigration being a pivotal issue in the 2024 election, Gabbard’s message challenges Indian-Americans to focus on candidates who prioritize practical solutions to these pressing concerns

A major concern raised by Gabbard is the green card backlog, which forces many Indian immigrants to wait decades to secure permanent residency, even though they are highly skilled professionals contributing to the U.S. economy. She also highlighted the issue of “documented Dreamers,” children of Indian immigrants who face potential deportation upon turning 18 due to outdated laws.

Gabbard contrasted this with Trump’s approach to immigration, praising his proposal to grant green cards to international students who graduate from U.S. universities. She emphasized that retaining skilled immigrants benefits the U.S. economy, urging voters to consider policy over identity when casting their ballots.
