UK takes all countries off Covid-19 ‘red list’

Vaccinations in more than 30 additional countries, including Peru and Uganda will also be recognized by Britain, bringing the total to more than 135. Earlier countries were listed under red, amber and green lists by UK. Amber and green categories were done away with earlier and most countries had been removed from the red list some time back

UK has removed Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela, the last seven countries on its travel “red list”.

Travellers heaved a sigh of relief as, if fully vaccinated, they would not need to stay quarantine in a hotel for 11 nights and thereby cut upon this major expenditure.

There was general mirth and celebration as nations looked forward to better trade and exchange opportunities, just like things were in the pre-Covid days.

Amber and green categories were done away with earlier and most countries had been removed from the red list some time back.

While Scotland and Wales said they will follow suit, concern about possibility of a new, more severe or vaccine-resistant strain of the coronavirus reaching the UK due to this policy, was expressed by the Welsh government.
