US based NRI to provide 100 volunteer teachers in Govt primary schools

US NRI Barjinder Singh had recently announced to bear operations expenses of Rs 25 lakhs for a special children school for two years

The US NRI Barjinder Singh, who recently an agreement with Red Cross Society to bear the school’s operations expenses for special children for two years, has offered to provide 100 volunteer teachers in government primary schools in Punjab’s Nawanshahr.

In a MoU with the Red Cross, Barjinder Singh had agreed to pay the estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh to run the school for two years.

The NRI offered the volunteer teachers wages from NGO funds under his campaign ‘Parhda Punjab’. This new model of education has support from Barjinder Singh Hussainpur’s NGO ‘Naroya Punjab’.

“One day my headmaster Darshan Singh Atwal came to our class and announced that an NRI wants to fund the education of a child in the school. That had great impact on me. Since then I had desire to do some good work for the society. It was like my dream. That dream has come true today as God has given me a plan to help the poor students studying in the government schools.”

“Under the innovative programme, US-based NRI Hussainpur has announced to provide 100 volunteer teachers on the vacant posts of government primary schools and has offered to pay them their salaries from the NGO funds. With this unique announcement, the social activist in the town has won the hearts of people,” the Tribune reported.

In his comments to media Barjinder Singh cited one childhood incident when he was a student at Doaba Sikh National School of Nawanshahr.
