Parents and Grand Parents Program allows immigrants to sponsor their parents and grandparents to stay with them
It is a family reunion time for immigrants in Canada. There is a mood of happiness and celebration even amid lots of negativity due to coronavirus pandemic among expatriates in Canada.
All due to a policy called the Parents and Grand Parents Programme (PGP), announcement by the Canadian Government that allows the immigrants to sponsor their parents and grandparents to stay with them.
With this, some 40,000 immigrant families will get permission to bring their parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada in 2021.
Since Indian presence is very high in Canada, the Indo-Canadians will be the largest beneficiary of the programme.
The families that are sponsoring their parents and grandparents have to show a certain minimum income, and the Canadian Government has allowed them to include state benefits received during the Covid lockdown as their income
Parents and Grand Parents Program (PGP) allows 10,000 annual applications. For 2021, applications can be filed online from December 20, 2021. There is a deadline of two weeks to entertain the applications.
Unveiling the programme, Canadian Immigration Minister Marco E L said, the importance of living with family was never understood before the advent of the pandemic.
“This is why we are fulfilling our commitment to helping reunite more families in Canada,” he said.

This will help the Immigrants in showing required amount needed to fulfil the programme criterion, as many have got reduced income during the pandemic.
