Australia’s population has experienced unprecedented growth, surging by over half a million in the past year, as revealed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The primary driver behind this surge is net migration, reaching record levels, marking a notable departure from pre-COVID patterns, reports VisaGuide.World.
Jenny Dobrak, the ABS head of migration statistics, highlights the extraordinary nature of overseas migration, breaking away from trends observed before the pandemic. Migrant arrivals have seen a remarkable 73 percent increase compared to the previous year, while migrant departures hit record lows, decreasing by two percentage points.
