At 30,093 new Covid-19 cases, India records lowest in 125 days

Two-thirds of the Indian population have developed antibodies against Covid-19

With decreasing trend in daily Covid-19 positivity rate, India in the last 24 hours recorded 30,093 new cases, which is lowest in 125 days.

As per the Indian Union Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate is at 1.68 per cent, less than 3 per cent for 29 consecutive days.

There has been decline in weekly positivity rate. It is below 5 per cent, and currently at 2.06 per cent.

In terms of caseload, active cases stand at 4,06,130, which is lowest in 117 days.

Even as India is preparing for a third wave, the country successfully vaccinated 41.18 crore (410.18 million) people under nationwide crore vaccine programme.

The recovery rate has also improved drastically at 97.37 per cent with a total number people recovered were 3,03,53,710. In last 24 hours 45,254 patients recovered.

Meanwhile, releasing the fourth national serosurvey findings, the Union Health Ministry said the two-thirds of the Indian population have developed antibodies against Covid-19. Children also constitute among the population pf people who have developed antibodies against the virus that causes Covid-19.

A sero-survey comprises testing of blood serum of a group of individuals. This data is used to monitor trends in prevalence of the coronavirus at the level of an administrative unit, say district or any other.

As per the survey findings, more than 50 per cent of children in the age group of 6-17 years have been exposed to Covid-19 and have developed antibodies against it

Despite 41.18 crore (410.18 million) vaccinations done, 40 crores (400 million) people are still vulnerable, according to Union Ministry of Health.
