A recent data suggests, Canada this year has admitted some 184,000 newcomers so far
Canada has raised the limit for immigrants to 401,000 in 2021 from the pre-pandemic limit of 341,000. This is under Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023.
According to Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino, Canada is ready to 401,000 new permanent residents in 2021.
Recent data suggests, Canada this year has admitted some 184,000 newcomers so far.
In July, Canada received about 39,500 new immigrants, while in June, the number was 35,700, a source in the Federal government revealed to Reuters.
As part of Canada’s post-Covid economic recovery plan, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has an ambitious immigration plan to welcome more newcomers in the country.
With only four months left for 2021 to pass, the IRCC needs to accelerate its welcoming process; some 217,000, in four months that makes on an average 43,400 per month.
Meanwhile, under the Parents and Grand Parents Programme (PGP) some 40,000 immigrant families will get permission to bring their parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada in 2021.

Since Indian presence is very high in Canada, the Indo-Canadians will be the largest beneficiary of the programme.
Parents and Grand Parents Program (PGP) allows 10,000 annual applications. For 2021, applications can be filed online from December 20, 2021. There is a deadline of two weeks to entertain the applications.
Unveiling the programme, Canadian Immigration Minister Marco E L said the importance of living with the family was never understood before the advent of the pandemic.
“This is why we are fulfilling our commitment to helping reunite more families in Canada,” he said.
