Stranded for several months in United Arab Emirates, eight Indian workers were flown home with the help of the Indian consulate and community volunteers.

Right intervention from the Indian Consulate and community resulted in the workers return to home, as they were in a totally tricky situation of being duped by an agent who charged DH 5,000 (more than Rs 100,000 each for jobs, the Khaleej Times reported.

On their arrival, however, they did not have any jobs and were left to fend for themselves.

They had landed in the UAE in March and were found seeking people’s help for food and shelter on a street in Sharjah.

The workers flew to New Delhi on July 2 and then to respective villages after the Indian Mission arranged tickets for them.
