Those foreigners who have resident visas of the United Arab Emirates can come back to the country if they have taken both vaccine doses against Covid-19. The only condition is that the vaccine taken by the passenger is among the vaccines approved by the UAE.

The travellers need to keep certain things in mind before planning their journey.

With the easing of curbs on flight operations, India’s national carrier, Air India, resumes its flight operations from UAE from Thursday onwards.

We welcome the latest protocols and measures announced by Dubai’s Supreme Committee and Disaster Management to allow the safe resumption of passenger travel from South Africa, Nigeria and India to Dubai onwards. We will resume carrying passengers from South Africa, Nigeria and India in accordance with these protocols from June 23 onwards: Emirates

On June 19, the authorities in Dubai announced to ease eased travel curbs for passengers from some countries, including India.

Soon after the easing of travel norms, Dubai-based Emirates airline said in a statement, “We welcome the latest protocols and measures announced by Dubai’s Supreme Committee and Disaster Management to allow the safe resumption of passenger travel from South Africa, Nigeria and India to Dubai onwards. We will resume carrying passengers from South Africa, Nigeria and India in accordance with these protocols from June 23 onwards.”

This is in the background of suspension of flight operation by the UAE to and from India in April, as cases of Covid-19 in India went very high during the second wave. The ban was later extended till July 6.

The ease, however, has given hope to many stranded NRIs who are employed in UAE. They are waiting to come back to UAE and resume their work.

The updated travel protocol, however, is also South Africa and Nigeria. Including India, the UAE has relaxed the norms for three countries.

While travelling to UAE, the passengers need to keep the following in mind:

  1. Passengers travelling to UAE from India must undergo a rapid PCR test four hours before departure. They must undergo another RT-PCR test on arrival in UAE.

  2. They have to show a negative RT-PCR report from the test conduct 48 hours before departure. Also, only QR-coded negative PCR test reports will be accepted.

  3. The UAE has approved four vaccines – Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech E, Sputnik V and Oxford University-AstraZeneca. So the passengers with a valid e-residence visa have an obligation to get both the shots of one of the four approved vaccines.

It takes RT-PCR test report to come out within 24 hours. So, the passengers from India have to undergo institutional quarantine till their RT-PCR test report is out.
