Foxnut is a very rich source of calcium and is absorbed easily, whereas saffron adds the flavor and has a soothing effect on mind. So let’s start with this easy yet delicious dessert as Ganesha’s prasadam today.

Cooking  time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

Foxnut : 100 gms.

Milk 1 ltr. (full cream)

Ghee: ½  tsp. (for roasting Foxnut)

Sugar : as per taste.

Dry fruits: 2 tsp (roasted and coarsely crushed)

Resins: 20-30

Saffron: 10-12 strands

Cardamom powder: 1 tsp.

Cooking steps:

Take a thick-bottomed pan and pour the milk and leave it to thicken on medium flame, stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes. In another pan, pour in the ghee and roast the Makhana till it turns golden. Add saffron, dry fruits, resins and cardamom powder and sugar to the thickening milk. Crush the roasted makhana with your hands, and add it to the thickening milk. Cook for 15 more minutes. Keep stirring occasionally. A rich, creamy textured flavourful Payasam is ready.
