In the middle of the south Atlantic, the British Overseas Territory island of St Helena has been Covid-free throughout the pandemic.

Located some 1,200 miles (2,000 km) west of Angola and 2,500 miles east of Brazil, the 47 sq miles (121 sq km) in size island, has been on the Green List right through, thus putting it in the range of inquiries by potential tourists.

As for now, it tops the popularity chart for being recognized as one of the friendliest communities in the world, something that will sure help it climb the ladder that will make tourists opt for St Helena on a  priority

Being the place where Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled and where he eventually died in 1821, one can see his house, now converted into a museum, while the rocky island offers sea fishing, diving, hiking as activity options.

Colonial-era streets line its capital Jamestown with the tropical weather and rare fauna and flora, further making it a place of tourist attraction.

High winds have been a deterrent in its airport operations, but at present, it is served by Titan Airways charter flights every three weeks to and from London Stansted Airport.

Currently, all visitors have to quarantine for ten days, the reason why hoteliers find the going tough. Access and frequency of flights and relaxation to quarantine curbs, will definitely see a sea change in the situation, they feel.

As for now, it tops the popularity chart for being recognized as one of the friendliest communities in the world, something that will sure help it climb the ladder that will make tourists opt for St Helena on a  priority.
