Whatever may be the reason, but the Indian Union Government has decided to reduce the prices of five medical equipment – pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitoring machine, digital thermometer, nebulizer, and glucometers – which were high in demand during the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in India.

According to the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, “91% brands of five medical devices reported downward revision of prices.”
“It was further notified that the prices are to be revised by manufacturers or importers as per the formula prescribed. The revised prices shall be effective from July 20, 2021,” said a office memorandum of Rajesh Kumar T, deputy director, medical devices, NPPA.
