The Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) is intensifying its efforts to attract affluent Indian travellers by promoting a selection of luxury, niche properties that offer immersive and unique experiences. To create awareness, SCTDA conducted roadshows in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai from September 5 to 9, targeting Indian travel trade partners.

Sharjah’s portfolio includes properties like The Chedi Al Bait, Al Faya Retreat by Sharjah Collection, and Kingfisher Retreat. These accommodations aim to deliver authentic experiences, from desert adventures to serene escapes, providing high-end travellers with personalized and culturally enriching stays. Notably, Al Faya Retreat, with only five rooms, offers activities such as dune bashing and stargazing, and is conveniently located near the Mleiha region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This reflects the growing interest of Indian travellers in Sharjah’s unique, high-end experiences, making the emirate a top destination for luxury tourism in the region.

Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of SCTDA, emphasized Sharjah’s growing appeal to luxury travellers at a recent media briefing in New Delhi. “Brands like Sheraton, Pullman, and DoubleTree by Hilton have already made their mark in Sharjah. Now, we’re introducing a strong collection of niche properties that offer unique experiences we want to promote in India,” he stated. He further revealed that two additional luxury properties—Lux Al Jabal* and Lux Al-Bridi*—will soon be operational, expanding Sharjah’s upscale offerings.

In addition to expanding its luxury accommodation options, Sharjah has also enhanced its infrastructure, particularly on its east coast, where properties like Kingfisher Retreat are located. Infrastructure developments, such as new roads and tunnels, have significantly reduced travel time between Sharjah city and the east coast, from two hours to just 50 minutes, making it more accessible for visitors.
