Tragic collision claims lives of mother and daughter on birthday trip in Oregon

 A devastating collision in the state of Oregon has claimed the lives of a six-year-old Indian-origin girl and her mother, sending shockwaves through their community. The incident occurred on March 30 in Clackamas County, when their vehicle collided with another after allegedly driving through a stop sign, as reported by the Oregon State Police.

The victims, identified as Geetanjali and Nareshbabu, hailed from Konakanchi village in Andhra Pradesh, India, and were both software engineers. Tragically, the collision not only took the life of the young girl but also critically injured her mother, who later succumbed to her injuries while hospitalized.

According to authorities, the accident unfolded when their car failed to yield at a stop sign along South Meridian Road, intersecting with Oregon 211 highway, resulting in the collision with another vehicle. The impact of the crash not only caused tragic loss but also left two other passengers injured.

This devastating incident serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety, urging vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such heartbreaking tragedies in the future

The Oregon State Police noted that the incident led to significant traffic disruption on the Oregon 211 highway for approximately five hours, highlighting the severity of the collision.

Heartbreakingly, the collision transpired as the family was en route to a temple to celebrate Geetanjali’s birthday, turning what was meant to be a joyous occasion into a day marred by tragedy.

In the aftermath of the accident, arrangements are being made to repatriate the remains of the victims to their hometown for the final rites, as the community mourns the loss of two cherished members.

This devastating incident serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety, urging vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such heartbreaking tragedies in the future.
