Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, shared this development during his visit to Abu Dhabi, where he engaged in fruitful discussions with Sara Musallam, UAE’s Minister of State for Early Education and Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK)
In a significant move, India has announced plans to establish an office of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Dubai, a decision aimed at further enhancing educational ties between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), news agency ANI reported.
Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, shared this development during his visit to Abu Dhabi, where he engaged in fruitful discussions with Sara Musallam, UAE’s Minister of State for Early Education and Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
The discussions primarily revolved around several key areas of cooperation. Pradhan emphasized the need for Indian support to facilitate the progress of the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus, a collaborative initiative that embodies the strong friendship between India and the UAE. ADEK’s support to CBSE-affiliated Indian schools in the UAE was also a focal point, underscoring the critical role these schools play in connecting Indian children in the Emirates to their cultural heritage and educational roots.
Pradhan lauded the vital role that UAE has played in supporting Indian schools, ensuring that they adhere to Indian curricula and values. He emphasized that this collaboration in education is pivotal in strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nations. Furthermore, Pradhan’s visit to the upcoming IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi marked another step forward in the partnership.
Pradhan also interacted with students and faculty at the Abu Dhabi Indian School, underscoring the commitment to fostering collaboration, participation, and synergy in critical areas of mutual interest in education and skill development. This visit not only strengthens educational ties but also cements the civilizational connection between India and the UAE. It showcases the shared commitment to nurturing a strong and enduring partnership in the field of education
The Union Education Minister also met with UAE’s Minister of Education, Ahmad Al Falasi, to strengthen educational cooperation. Both ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance existing educational cooperation by promoting student and faculty mobility, joint research programs, course design, and participation in educational events, including conferences, lectures, and symposia. This MoU also extends to the exchange of information regarding regulations, legal structures, and best practices in general and higher education. It is essential to establish frameworks and policies for general and higher education, including national qualification frameworks, to facilitate mutual recognition of qualifications between the two countries.
The MoU will establish a Joint Working Group (JWG) chaired by representatives from both India and the UAE, which will meet at least once a year to monitor the memorandum’s implementation. This step is expected to strengthen educational ties between the two nations and promote academic and skill qualification recognition.
During his three-day visit to the UAE, Pradhan reiterated the importance of building a knowledge bridge between the UAE’s global economic prominence and India’s global talent prowess. The ministers expressed their satisfaction with the progress made regarding mutual recognition of academic and skill qualifications and the recognition of Indian institutes in the UAE. They also emphasized the need to continue working together to expedite student and workforce mobility.
In addition to these strategic discussions, Pradhan also interacted with students and faculty at the Abu Dhabi Indian School, underscoring the commitment to fostering collaboration, participation, and synergy in critical areas of mutual interest in education and skill development. This visit not only strengthens educational ties but also cements the civilizational connection between India and the UAE. It showcases the shared commitment to nurturing a strong and enduring partnership in the field of education.
