DIET HEALTHY FASHION FOOD: Millets with winter veggies & Multi grain Uttapam

Worth trying ‘diet healthy fashion food’. Good for or those who want to cut down on their consumption of wheat

Millets with winter veggies

Millet is becoming a popular item for those who are on a ‘balanced’ diet or those who want to cut down on their consumption of wheat.

This recipe can be used to prepare millet, whole bajra or dalia.

Millet with veggies diet food

INGREDIENTS:

3 tbsps of millet/dalia/jowar

3 cups of veggies which can include cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, beans

Salt

1 tsp of turmeric powder/fresh turmeric paste

1 tsp of garlic paste

1 tsp of green chillie paste

1 tbsp of white oil

Soak the millet/dalia/jowar for atleast 8 hours in water. Preferably over night. In a pressure cooker add the oil and saute the veggies for 2-3 minutes. Drain out the water from the soaked millet and add to the veggies together with the remaining ingredients. Stir gently and add 3 cups of water and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until the millet is cooked and soft. Very tasty and healthy way of preparing cereals.

Multi grain uttapam

INGREDIENTS:

3 cups of multi grain idli dough

Salt

Oil for spreading on uttapam maker or tawa

Chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander leaves

Multigrain Uttapams

Multi grain batter is the ‘fashion’ fad food for those who are on a diet. Add salt and prepare small sized uttapam in a uttapam maker or a non-stick tava. You can spread the batter with a ladle according to the size you want your uttapam. Place a small portion of onions, tomatoes and coriander chopped. Turn over and cook both sides on low flame. Serve with green chutney.
