Meenakashi Lekhi Engages with IndianDiaspora in Ecuador

Meenakashi Lekhi, Indian Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs, extended her regards and gratitude to the Indian community in Ecuador for their significant contributions to India’s ongoing journey of transformation during a recent interaction. She took this opportunity to underline the Indian government’s unwavering commitment to bolstering the multifaceted bilateral cooperation between India and Ecuador.

In a tweet, Lekhi said: “Had a productive interaction with the Indian community in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Congratulated them for contributing to India’s transformational journey. Shared the transformation underway in India to strengthen multi-faceted bilateral cooperation with Ecuador. Apprised them of the initiatives and programs of the Government of India in the last 9 years.”

In a show of unity and wellness, the minister participated in a yoga event organized by the Indian Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay, alongside the Indian diaspora.

While in Ecuador, Meenakashi Lekhi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his bust situated on the picturesque Malecon in Guayaquil. She emphasized the timeless message of peace and non-violence espoused by the revered leader, stating, “Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace and non-violence transcends boundaries. Had the honor to offer floral tribute at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi located at picturesque Malecon in Guayaquil.”

Worth noting is the fact that the Minister of State is currently on a six-day tour of South American nations, Ecuador and Paraguay, from November 2 to November 7. Before her visit to Ecuador, she had a notable engagement in Paraguay.

During her visit to Paraguay, Lekhi had constructive discussions with Victor Verdun, Paraguay’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, covering a spectrum of issues relevant to bilateral, regional, and multilateral interests. Both leaders reached a mutual understanding to strengthen their multifaceted cooperation.

Additionally, Meenakashi Lekhi engaged in discussions with Javier Gimenez, Paraguay’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, exploring avenues to enhance economic collaboration between the two nations.

Lekhi took time to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Paraguay. She visited the Lake Cultural Centre in Aregua, where she explored the historical significance of Areguena ceramics and indigenous art. Furthermore, her itinerary included a visit to the National Museum of Fine Arts and Antiques of Paraguay.
