At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., will undertake a State Visit to India from August 4 to 8, 2025.

This will be President Marcos’ first visit to India since taking office. He will be accompanied by First Lady Madame Louise Araneta Marcos, senior Cabinet Ministers, high-ranking officials, and a business delegation. As part of his itinerary, President Marcos will also travel to Bengaluru before concluding his visit on August 8.

President Marcos’ first visit to India aims to boost strategic cooperation, celebrate 75 years of bilateral ties

On August 5, 2025, Prime Minister Modi and President Marcos are scheduled to hold bilateral talks, expected to focus on trade, maritime security, digital technology, defence, and other areas of mutual interest. President Marcos will also meet President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will call on the visiting dignitary.

India and the Philippines established diplomatic relations in November 1949. Since then, their partnership has grown across sectors including trade, investment, defence, healthcare, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. Both nations also collaborate closely in regional forums, especially under India’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN.

India’s engagement with the Philippines forms a key part of its ‘Act East’ Policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and broader Indo-Pacific strategy. The timing of this visit, aligned with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, presents a strategic opportunity to reaffirm shared values, deepen cooperation, and enhance regional engagement.
