Telangana diaspora across Gulf countries gear up for grand floral festival, marking cultural unity and first-ever public celebration in Jeddah
The Telangana NRI community in Gulf countries is preparing to celebrate Bathukamma with elaborate events, highlighting cultural pride and unity. Dubai, often called “mini-Telangana” by its diaspora, is leading the festivities, with multiple events planned featuring prominent Telangana folk singers, reported telanganatoday.com.
Woman parliamentarian DK Aruna, Nizamabad MP D. Aravind, and Telangana BJP President N. Ramachander Rao are scheduled to attend the Dubai celebrations next week.
The Gulf Telangana Cultural Welfare Association (GTCWA), the oldest Telangana NRI organisation in Dubai, will host the festival on Sunday, maintaining a family-traditional format introduced 17 years ago, said president Juvvadi Srinivas Rao and secretary Salahuddin.
The ETCA community association is holding events on the same day, while the Telugu Association of Dubai (TAD) will host its festival on September 26 after a year-long gap. In Abu Dhabi, the Telangana Friends Association will celebrate Bathukamma on September 27
For the first time in Saudi Arabia, the Telugu community organisation JTM will host a public Bathukamma celebration at the Indian consulate in Jeddah. Swarna Srinivas from Rajanna Sircilla district expressed excitement over this inaugural event. In Bahrain, Telangana celebrates the festival alongside the Andhra Pradesh community in a local park, while in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, both Telangana and Andhra communities will celebrate together with Dasara. Oman’s Telangana Wing of ISC plans a grand celebration, and multiple organisations in Qatar are also organising separate festivities.
