A strategic step to boost exports, forge industry linkages, and reinforce India-UAE trade relations
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of India’s largest integrated steel producers, has inaugurated its first Representative Office in Dubai, marking a major milestone in its global expansion strategy. With an annual crude steel capacity of over 20 million tonnes, this move strengthens SAIL’s presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, reported indianpsu.com.
The new office was officially inaugurated by Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, H.D. Kumaraswamy, in the presence of key dignitaries, including Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India to Dubai; Amarendu Prakash, Chairman and MD of SAIL; Amitava Mukherjee, CMD of NMDC; and V.K. Tripathi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel. Senior officials from SAIL, NMDC, MECON, and the Ministry of Steel also attended the event.
Located in Dubai, a global trade and logistics hub, the office is expected to play a pivotal role in facilitating steel exports, building customer networks, and creating new industry linkages across the region. It positions
SAIL to engage directly with global buyers and partners, enabling the company to tap into high-potential markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and beyond
India’s Steel Vision 2030 Gets a Boost
This development aligns with the Government of India’s vision to scale up the country’s steel production to 300 million tonnes by 2030, and elevate the global profile of Indian steel. SAIL’s international outreach via Dubai is not only a boost for the company but also contributes to strengthening India-UAE bilateral trade relations, especially in the infrastructure and construction sectors where steel is a critical component.
As India aims to become a global manufacturing and export powerhouse, SAIL’s Dubai office marks a critical step forward in transforming the PSU into a globally competitive steelmaker, showcasing India’s industrial capabilities on the world stage.
