India and Switzerland deepen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors
India and Switzerland held the 13th round of Foreign Office Consultations on February 13, 2025, in New Delhi The Indian delegation was led by Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Swiss side was headed by \Alexandre Fasel, State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Discussions encompassed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global matters of mutual interest.
Focus on Trade, Innovation, and Emerging Technologies
The co-chairs reviewed progress in trade and investment, the India-EFTA TEPA, innovation, sustainability, air services, technology, and mobility. They explored new collaboration opportunities in emerging fields such as digitisation, artificial intelligence, and quantum technology.

Both sides welcomed the impact of the India-Swiss Innovation Platform in fostering scientific and technological ties, supporting startup ecosystems, and strengthening research collaboration.
The recent opening of an EFTA-dedicated desk at Invest India in New Delhi was highlighted as a key milestone for TEPA implementation. The co-chairs also acknowledged the positive outcomes of the 2019 MoU on ‘Technical Cooperation in the Field of Climate Change and Environment’ and looked forward to its renewal.
