4-day UAE National Day break: Fireworks; Dh500,000 raffle and up to 70% discounts in Dubai

Skies over Dubai will light up with dazzling fireworks for two days to celebrate the Year of the 50 th. UAE National Day is celebrated on December 2 each year in the United Arab Emirates. What makes this year something very special is that it marks the Golden Jubilee or the 50 th anniversary of the country.

Fireworks, discounts and raffles are among the several activities planned in Dubai as the Emirate marks the UAE’s 50th National Day pn  December 2.

UAE National Day  is celebrated on December 2 each year.in the United Arab Emirates. What makes this year something very special is that this year marks the Golden Jubilee or the 50 th anniversary of the country 

It was on this day on December 2, 1971, that 6 of the 7 Emirati states – except for Ras Al Khaimah, which joined the other six states  on 10 February 1972 – formed a strong and resilient Federation, which the world has come to know as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), headed by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the federation’s first president. 

His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan declared the year as  “The year of the 50th to commemorate 50 years since the nation’s founding in 1971“

Recently, the UAE National Day has been combined with the Emirati Martyr’s day that is on November 30th.

Organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), this year’s National Day celebrations will run from December 2 to 11. The events will coincide with the four-day weekend (December 1-4) that UAE residents will enjoy as holidays for the National Day.

Some of the activities across the city to celebrate the country’s 50th birthday are as follows:

Fireworks

The skies of Dubai will light up with dazzling fireworks for two days to celebrate the Year of the 50th. The fireworks will set off at 8pm, 8.30pm and 9pm on December 2 and 3 at The Pointe and Atlantis at The Palm; Bluewaters; Etisalat Beach Canteen at Jumeirah Beach behind Sunset Mall; La Mer and Burj Al Arab.

Discounts and offers

Dubai’s shopping malls and retail destinations such as Majid Al Futtaim malls, Dubai Festival City Mall, The Dubai Mall and Dubai Outlet Mall will offer 50-70 per cent off selected items until December 13.

Dh500,000 raffle

Beach canteen

The 2021 edition of the Etisalat Beach Canteen will run from November 25 till December 11. It will offer 17 days of gastronomical delights, live performances, and engaging activities for children of all ages. 

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of DFRE, said, “The UAE’s Golden Jubilee marks 50 years of the country’s progress and innovation. To celebrate this auspicious milestone, UAE National Day will be an extravaganza like no other.

In Sharjah Celebrations will include falconry and heritage shows, as well as folk and artistic performances

Fireeworks displays and a classic car parade are among the shows planned in Sharjah to mark the UAE’s 50th National Day.

The Sharjah National Day Celebrations Committee will organise events and activities in Kalba, Al Bataeh, and Wadi Al Helo on November 26, 28, and 29.

The celebrations include falconry and heritage shows, as well as folk and artistic performances. Visitors will get to watch the falcons that Emiratis use in hunting up close.
