The 5th Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz was conducted online from November 11 to December 11, 2024, with 1,08,876 participants from 203 countries and territories. This initiative by the Government of India aims to connect the Indian diaspora and foreign nationals with India’s heritage, culture, and contemporary achievements.

Connecting global Indian youth with their roots

First launched in 2015 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement at the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention, the quiz has grown into a significant platform for diaspora engagement. Conducted in two categories—Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign Nationals—this year’s edition saw 30 winners (15 from each category) who will visit India from January 8-21, 2025, on the Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra.

Celebrating global winners
The winners, from countries like the UAE, USA, Canada, Botswana, Mauritius, and Russia, will begin their India visit at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Bhubaneswar. This immersive journey offers them a chance to explore India’s culture, heritage, and modern developments.

Participants and categories

  • Non-Resident Indian winners include individuals from the UAE, USA, Canada, Germany, and Iceland, among others.
  • PIO/Foreign Nationals winners represent countries like Mauritius, Bhutan, Denmark, and Finland.

A cultural journey in India
The winners’ itinerary starts in Odisha, where they will attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention (January 8-10, 2025). The journey will allow them to deepen their understanding of India’s rich history and its progress in key sectors.
