Strengthening bilateral ties through focused dialogue and strategic partnerships
India and the Czech Republic held the 8th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) on January 15, 2025, in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by M. Anand Prakash, Joint Secretary (Central Europe) from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, and Katerina Sequensova, Director General for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
Comprehensive discussions on strengthening partnerships and global cooperation
During the consultations, both sides reviewed a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues.
The discussions covered political relations, high-level exchanges, trade and investments, cooperation in science and technology, defense partnerships, and enhancing people-to-people ties, including student mobility.
Advancing strategic partnerships in innovation
India and the Czech Republic share close and friendly relations, marked by the elevation of their ties to a Strategic Partnership on Innovation during the Czech Prime Minister’s visit to India in January 2024. Both countries emphasized their commitment to deepening cooperation in innovative sectors.
Sequensova also met Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, where they explored all aspects of bilateral relations alongside regional and global issues. The next round of Foreign Office Consultations will be held in Prague at a mutually convenient time.
